Nicholas Echevarria
October 13, 1918 - August 20, 2013
Born in Liverpool, England, “Nick” led a life that inspired, influenced, and made many people happy. In 1942, he married Jessica Davison who became his life-long sweetheart of 71 years. Nick was a talented musician, a firefighter, and an electronic technician. He served in the British military 1939-1946. He emigrated to Canada in 1956 and became a member of the Bahá’í Faith in 1958.
Nick passed on to the next world at the age of 94 at Sunridge Place in Duncan, August 20th. He and his family greatly appreciated the dedicated nursing care, kindness, and respect of the staff at Dogwood House and Gentle Grove, and, for the visits and devotional gatherings of the Bahá’í Community held at Sunridge.
Nick is survived by his wife, Jessie, daughter, Lynn Echevarria, sister Francis, 5 grandchildren: Jennifer Lightbody, Julia Howe, Gwen Wright, Geoffrey Howe, Michael Echevarria, and 6 great grandchildren. His son Paul predeceased him in 2005.
Memorial service and a celebration of his life will be held at Sands Funeral Chapel, Saturday August 24th at noon, followed by Interment at Shawnigan Lake Cemetery.
